Mary Fiona Lucas
Who I am
A fully qualified NCPS registered therapist and professional leadership coach in the South West of England.
For over 15 years, I’ve specialised in transformational work with high-functioning adults: leaders, parents, entrepreneurs, and professionals who are ready to examine the patterns beneath their choices and create meaningful change. My approach integrates developmental psychology, relational depth, and existential inquiry - whether through coaching, therapy, or a combination of both.
Before training as a therapist and coach, I spent years as a journalist covering human stories for The Times, Sunday Telegraph, and London Evening Standard, and produced documentary work in Bangladesh documenting displacement and resilience in the Jamuna Delta.
This earlier work taught me how to listen for what isn’t being said, to hold complexity without rushing to resolution, and to recognise the patterns that keep us repeating ourselves. It also gave me insight into the particular pressures faced by those who’ve learned to perform competence while carrying private struggle.
Training
My qualifications include an Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Heartwood College of Counselling and Psychotherapy), ICF Professional Coaching Certification in Integral Leadership Development (New Ventures West), a Diploma in Drama, Metaphor and Movement Therapy (Sesame Institute), accredited family and commercial mediation training, and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Bristol.
